READING POLICE DEPARTMENT IS NOW HIRING
The Reading Police Department is now hiring for the January 2027 Academy Class.
- There is no application and the testing is free
- Candidates must be a U.S Citizen and bring a valid picture ID to the test
- 20 years 6 months of age at time of testing
- We are currently not accepting lateral transfers
- 2027 Trainee Rate: $71,869.09
- 2027 Patrolman V Rate: $102,669.83
Testing date #1 Saturday August 8th, 2026 at 8:00AM
Testing date #2 Saturday August 15th, 2026 at 8:00AM
Location: Alvernia University PLEX 465 Saint Bernardine Street, Reading PA 19607
The Written Exam will be scored onsite in front of the applicant. The Physical Fitness Test will be conducted immediately after the completion of the Written Exam.
