MAYOR MORÁN TO HOST BLACK HISTORY MONTH WEBINARS
Each episode will feature African-American Inventors and their contributions.
READING – February 5, 2022: Today, Mayor Eddie Mor n announced he is hosting a weekly virtual talk show as part of the City's Black History Month celebration, launching on February 7th at 6 p.m.
Every Tuesday in February, Mayor Mor n will host "Storytime with Gigi and Nyla," highlighting great African-American inventors. The contributions of each inventor will be explored and how they have impacted the world today. Some of the inventions that will be discussed include the Internet, Marvel superhero action figures, View-Master, the Easy-Bake oven, board and card games, water guns, and many more.
To conclude the series, Gigi and Nyla will interview them to learn how they developed and implemented their ideas in a separate event happening in February at Albright College (more details to come).
"I am incredibly excited to share and host this particular series," said Mayor Mor n. "Each one of these successful innovators and creators has a story that I firmly believe will impact and inspire several lives from our community, particularly our youth.
On top of that, the conversation is driven by the one and only Mrs. Crystal Gilmore Harris and her granddaughter Nyla. This is a duo that I respect and admire and know that you all will fall in love with."
The inventors include:
James Howard: inventor, entrepreneur, and producer of BIGG
Lonnie Johnson: Super Soaker and Nerf Gun
Ken Johnson: Phase 10 card game
Elliot Eddie: The Entrepreneur Game (featured recently on History Channel)
LaMont Morris: Easy-Bake Oven 2.0 edition—Real Meal Oven, Travel Lite-Brite
David Vonner: Marvel Superhero Action Figures designer
Albert White: key contributor - beginning of the Internet
Estate Representative of the late Charles Harrison: ViewMaster
The three-part series will begin Tuesday, February 7th at 6 p.m. culminating with a special event on February 28th. The format will allow interaction (Q&A) with the Zoom audience who joins the live session (please note: Q&A will not include Facebook or YouTube comment sections).
