Press Releases from the City of Reading for 2021

READING – August 17, 2021: Today, Mayor Eddie Morán of the City of Reading announced a new vaccination clinic in the City with an additional incentive of admission to a concert with an international recording star:

“As our administraton continues its efforts to increase the vaccination rate among Reading residents, I am announcing an initiative that will encourage people to become fully vaccinated.

Once again, the City is partnering with State Rep. Manny Guzmán, PennState St. Joseph Medical Center, Downtown Campus and radio station Mega Reading to host a new vaccination clinic. This clinic will be similar to the previous ones with a twist and offering what we believe is an excellent incentive to fully inoculate individuals.

The first 200 people to become fully vaccinated, meaning the two shots of Moderna (the vaccine administered at this clinic), will receive one admission ticket to the La India concert on Saturday, September 25th.

The clinic will be on a first-come, first-serve basis similar to previous offerings, without the need for an appointment and with an emphasis on City residents but open to anyone. Bilingual assistance will be offered.

I appeal to our community to pay close attention to the recent dramatic spikes several municipalities are experiencing across the nation and act immediately. The vaccines are our best chance to prevent hospitalization overloads and death rates, especially in Third-Class Cities with limited resources such as Reading. Let’s protect our families, loved ones, community, and beloved City.”
