Reading Pagoda and City Hall to Shine Blue and White in Celebration of Oktoberfest
Reading, PA: The City of Reading will illuminate the Pagoda in blue and white this evening, Wednesday, September 30, in celebration of Oktoberfest and the Reading Liederkranz’s German heritage and traditions. The special lighting will recognize the longstanding connection between the Reading community and the Reading Liederkranz, while adding to the celebration surrounding this year’s Oktoberfest festivities.
“When we have an opportunity to celebrate one of the traditions and organizations that has helped shape Reading, I think we should,” said Mayor Eddie Morán. “That’s why I wanted the Pagoda lit in blue and white for the Reading Liederkranz and Oktoberfest. It’s a great way to recognize the Liederkranz and let the Pagoda be part of the celebration.”
Jon Linton of the Reading Liederkranz said the organization is grateful to the City for helping mark the occasion.
“We are thrilled to see Reading’s iconic Pagoda shining Bavarian blue in celebration of Oktoberfest. The Pagoda is such a special symbol of our city, and having it illuminated in the colors of Bavaria is a wonderful way to bring together Reading’s unique identity with the spirit of German heritage, friendship, and celebration. We are grateful to the City of Reading for helping us mark this occasion and invite everyone to enjoy the beautiful sight as we raise a toast to Oktoberfest in our community,” Linton said.
The Pagoda will be illuminated throughout the evening of September 30. Meanwhile, City Hall will be illuminated in blue and white from Wednesday, September 30, through Saturday, October 3.
