Mayor Eddie Morán to Welcome Home Special Olympics Gold Medalist Kylah Schlott with Community Procession

Reading, PA: Mayor Eddie Morán, in partnership with the Reading Police Department, Reading Fire Department, and Muhlenberg Township Police Department, will welcome home Special Olympics athlete Kylah Schlott with a special escort procession on Saturday, June 27 to celebrate her historic achievement at the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Kylah became Team Pennsylvania's first gold medalist of the Games and the first athlete from Berks County to earn a gold medal and only athlete from Berks to participate in these games. She captured gold in the 200-meter Freestyle, finishing with an outstanding time of 3:29.85—nearly 30 seconds faster than her previous personal best.

The procession is expected to start at the Penn Street Bridge at approximately 3:00 p.m. From there, Reading Police and Fire personnel will escort Kylah westbound along Penn Street before continuing north on 5th Street. The escort will then be transferred to Muhlenberg Township Police near the Papa Johns location on 5th Street Highway, where it will continue to Kylah's home at 846 Tuckerton Avenue, Temple.

Mayor Morán, an assistant Special Olympics soccer coach in Berks County who has coached Kylah, organized the welcome home celebration to recognize her remarkable accomplishment and dedication.

Members of the public are encouraged to safely line portions of the route to congratulate Kylah as she returns home following her historic achievement.
