POSITION SUMMARY:

The Zoning Clerk is responsible for performing various clerical and office duties for the Zoning division of Community Development.

Typical job duties may include but are not limited to:

  • Greets visitors and distributes information on specific properties by answering calls, emails and walk-in requests
  • Scans documents, enters information into database systems, and provides other required clerical and administrative support to Zoning, Planning and Historic Preservation
  • Receives and processes fees; maintains financial records pertaining to land use and zoning applications, and assists with payment of invoices
  • Assists with scheduling appointments and Right-to Know requests
  • Assists with tracking and follow-up on zoning enforcement activities
  • Receives and logs permit applications and contacts applicants for missing information
  • Provides assistance at site inspections or other meetings
  • Maintain accurate files on correspondence
  • Answer and respond to vendor and coworker inquiries
  • Pick up, sort, and distribute mail
  • Perform other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Educational Requirements/Experience

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required/Associates Degree preferred
  • Must be able to type at least 35 wpm with accuracy
  • Prior experience in an office or similar administrative setting required
  • Experience with municipal zoning, planning, historic preservation, or code enforcement preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite required
  • Experience in public interaction highly desired
  • Excellent Customer Service required
  • Bilingual English and Spanish required
