POSITION SUMMARY:

The City of Reading, Pennsylvania is seeking a qualified candidate as a Community Engagement Coordinator for a program that will ensure that the citizens of Reading, Pennsylvania have the capacity to obtain, process, and understand basic health information and services needed to make appropriate health decisions when related to COVID-19 and to advance the Health People 2030 objectives.  Specifically, this position will be responsible for   implementing and administering effective outreach programs or events related to the project.

Qualified candidates should be detail-oriented, produce high quality work, communicate clearly and accurately, both verbally and in writing, demonstrate strong planning and organizational skills, and participate in and support team decisions and team responsibilities. This is a fixed-term appointment for one (1) year from date of hire, with excellent possibility of re-funding.

Typical job duties may include but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for keeping track of community issues related to the program and working with community members to increase engagement in initiatives;
  • Planning community meetings and organizing outreach events to promote the program;
  • Creating reports on behalf of the program organization;
  • Ability and willingness to increase citizen engagement;
  • Strong written and verbal communications;
  • Creative approach to problem solving;
  • Other duties as deemed necessary.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education / Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree, or higher, plus three (3) years related experience
  • Five (5) years of related community health equity experience
  • Experience in City governance and dealing with the public
  • Valid PA Driver’s License
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) required
