POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Capital Projects Manager, this individual is responsible for administering the completion of City wide capital projects. The Projects Administrator is responsible for all aspects of capital projects including funding availability, concept development, creating RFPs, engineering, bidding, plan reviews, financial tracking, project progression, construction disputes and resolutions, project close out, and other related tasks.

Typical job duties may include but are not limited to:

  • Performs all assigned duties and essential functions in a manner consistent with the Department of Public Works vision, mission and goals.
  • Create long and short term plans, including setting targets for milestones and adhering to deadlines.
  • Serve as a point of contact for employees involved in various projects.
  • Communicate with Managers, Administrators to keep projects aligned with their goals.
  • Perform quality control on the project throughout development and construction to maintain the standards expected.
  • Works directly with contracted engineering and construction firms to assure continuity in the project as desired by the Administration and stake holders.
  • Liaisons with local state and federal organizations to secure permits and funding.
  • Assist with development of strategic and five-year capital improvement plans.
  • Provides regular oral and written reports to the Capital Projects Manager and Public Works Director and/or designee on projects status, program initiatives and related tasks.
  • Conduct meetings of Contractors, Stake holders and Administration of the City as well as other Local, State and Federal Agencies as necessary for project completion.
  • Assist in preparing documentation and reports required by various agencies as necessary, including semi-annually to the Mayor and City Council.
  • Conducts and/or attends various meetings related to capital projects.
  • Maintain a master plan and schedule of all aspects of capital projects and program initiatives pertaining to the City as well as Public Works improvements.



Educational/Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four year college or university is required with major coursework in Business Administration, Public Administration, Economics, Public Works Management, Project Management, Environmental Engineering, Urban Planning, Architecture, or other job related field. Four (4) years of related experience with a minimum of two (2) years in a related job capacity. A Master’s degree may substitute for 2 years of related experience.
