Sustainability Manager
The City of Reading is committed to transitioning to 100% clean, renewable energy communitywide by 2050. The City is seeking a passionate and experienced professional to build on previous efforts and establish a formal Sustainability and Environmental program emphasizing social, economic, and environmental sustainability through outreach, education and policy initiatives with the Mayor and Administration. This position works closely with the City’s Solid Waste/Recycling Manager.

Service Utility Crew Leader-WWTP

Assures PaDEP certified operations are met, leads other Service Utility Department workers on various size projects, and fills in as a working Foreman during Supervisors time off.

Chief Building Official

Develops and manages the Building/Trades Division budget, provides technical information and informed opinions to design professionals, contractors, lawyers, developers, real estate agents, and building owners on building code issues and other related regulatory requirements, and demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service.

Project Accountant
Under the direction of the Accounting and Treasury Manager, the individual in this Project Accountant position is responsible for all aspects of project accounting, financial analysis, financial accounts management, grant administration and related tasks associated with the Utilities Division with a focus on the Department of Justice Consent Decree (DOJ CD) projects and programs. Includes but not limited to various financial aspects associated with wastewater treatment plant, pump stations, collection system construction projects and related programs implementation.

Downtown Ambassador (Part-time)
Assisting with the clean and safe aspects of Downtown. This position will provide daily visibility to the Downtown Community in the form of cleaning as well as helping with the overall appearance and assistance of our Downtown employees and visitors. This position reports directly to the Public Properties/Downtown Coordinator, and works to promote the vision of the Administration for a clean and safe Downtown.

Sweep Officer - Part-Time
Working with the Enforcement assignment patrol, in an assigned geographical area, this position enforces the City’s sanitation laws and regulations, while exercising good judgment in the issuance of written and electronic warnings and violations. Educates the public and community groups on sanitation laws and regulations.

Part-time Grounds Maintenance
The candidate for this position must be able to work independently or on a crew in an outdoor setting, completing tasks consistent with grounds maintenance. This includes working in all elements of weather throughout the year.

Part-Time General Laborer
The candidate for this position must be able to work independently or on a crew in both indoor and outdoor environments, completing tasks as directed. This is a part-time position working about twenty-eight (28) hours per week, between Monday and Friday. The actual scheduling will be determined once the candidate is hired.
