Secretary, Public Works
- Prepare, type and maintain all letters, memorandums and general correspondence;
- Screen telephone calls; handle and resolve problems as appropriate;
- Schedule appointments and meetings for the Managers;
- Prepare, type and maintain purchase requisitions and invoices;
Clean City Coordinator
The Clean City Coordinator works under the supervision of the Solid Waste Manager and in close partnership with the Clean City Foreman, the City Arborist, Parks Foreman and the City’s Public Properties Manager. The position is designed to provide professional ownership of key programs that are part of a clean city strategy and the beautification of the City’s Center City, Neighborhoods and Corridors ensuring cleanliness and landscaping are alive and vibrant. Ensures special events are coordinated with other City entities.
Part-Time Relief Video Monitor
- Maintains constant surveillance of the City cameras within the Video Safety Unit
- Alerts police to suspicious activity and crimes in progress.
- Operates all surveillance camera equipment, including but not limited to Video Monitors, Computers, Digital Recorders, Cameras and Controllers.
Equipment Operator II – Solid Waste
- Must have at least two (2) year’s experience in the operation of 5 ton and larger trucks.
- Valid PA Class B CDL required.
- Experience with bucket trucks, loaders, backhoes, sweepers, rollers, large & small plows & salt spreaders and compactors is preferred.
Part Time Grounds Maintenance
The candidate for this position must be able to work independently or on a crew in an outdoor setting, completing tasks consistent with grounds maintenance. This includes working in all elements of weather throughout the year.
Capital Projects Manager & Deputy Director
This position manages project and program development, implementation and budgeting which includes an assurance of project completion and the continuous improvement of other program initiatives. This position will work closely with the Public Works Division whose department manages procurement, budgeting and other relevant financial processes.
The City of Reading is seeking an energetic individual who will assume the challenging opportunity to address the planning needs of an urban city. This is a hands on position to help manage the planning activities of the City. This individual will be provide the zoning and planning decisions after reviewing submitted plans. Administers staff of professionals, including meeting with Developers and Investors through the One Stop Shop permit services that include Planning, Zoning and Codes.
Property Maintenance Inspector
This position will be responsible for inspecting single and multi-family dwellings within the City to ensure compliance to City-Housing Codes. This position will entail frequent contact with other employees in the Division; as well as daily contact with housing dwellers. There is limited contact with City employees outside the Division.
Equipment Operator II – Sewers, 2nd Shift
This position requires experience with the operation and maintenance of underground utilities to perform repairs, replacement, and rehabilitation via excavation work, pipe inspection and cleaning using specialized in-pipe equipment, and preventive maintenance to maintain the sanitary and storm sewer facilities owned by the City of Reading.
Service Utility Crew Leader-WWTP
Assures PaDEP certified operations are met, leads other Service Utility Department workers on various size projects, and fills in as a working Foreman during Supervisors time off.
Chief Building Official
Develops and manages the Building/Trades Division budget, provides technical information and informed opinions to design professionals, contractors, lawyers, developers, real estate agents, and building owners on building code issues and other related regulatory requirements, and demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service.
Under the direction of the Accounting and Treasury Manager, the individual in this Project Accountant position is responsible for all aspects of project accounting, financial analysis, financial accounts management, grant administration and related tasks associated with the Utilities Division with a focus on the Department of Justice Consent Decree (DOJ CD) projects and programs. Includes but not limited to various financial aspects associated with wastewater treatment plant, pump stations, collection system construction projects and related programs implementation.
