Reading Police Department Makes Crash Reports Available Online
Reading, PA (August 29, 2011) – Reading Police Department is digitizing its crash reports through a partnership with the Carfax Police Crash Assistance Program. The reports are stored electronically in a secure database and available for purchase online here.
Filing electronic crash reports reduces overhead costs for the department. Police departments spend an average of $35,000 a year to manually reproduce accident reports. The new system virtually eliminates this cost as well as the administrative staff time spent fulfilling each request.
Just as important, public access to crash reports is now more efficient. Reports needed by involved parties, insurance companies, and other members of the public are now easily obtained online within minutes.
Working with Carfax Police Crash Assistance, Reading Police Department is better serving our community.`
