Orienteering is a navigational sport, using just a map and compass to find your way around ‘a course’ point by point in unfamiliar terrain. Join members of the Delaware Valley Orienteering Association as they explain this sport which is widely popular in Europe, often described as a thinking man’s game combined with a 5k. After some instruction, participants will put their skills to the test on a beginner-level course around the park. Free program, and great for all ages!

Join Frieda Schmidt as she demonstrates and explains one of the most common and historic methods of soap making. Schmidt will demonstrate the cold process that involves lye, sodium hydroxide, and a variety of oils. During the 18th and 19th centuries many families made soap from lye, obtained from wood ash and rainwater along with animal fats. Soap making required hours of preparation, but Schmidt will explain today's techniques that take the guesswork out of the process allowing many to enjoy it as a hobby or business.
