Plein Air in the Parks

Join us at Gring’s Mill park, as we make it our outdoor studio!  Grab any materials you have: a sketchbook, pencils, canvasses, paints, and more, pack yourself a picnic lunch, and bring them along!  This free-flowing event focuses on getting everybody outside and seeing the parks in a new light while engaging in the arts.  Meet local artists who love to paint and draw outdoors, and join others while we make Gring’s Mill ‘picture perfect’.  Participants need no experience, just a willingness to create an image from something they see and enjoy our park setting.  Artists ‘check in’ upon arrival and can choose to be involved in an online Facebook gallery of the day’s work.  Local plein air artists will be on hand to answer questions about creating outdoors, and children can create a masterpiece of their own using chalk in our “Sidewalk Gallery”.  A limited amount of art supplies will be available for children, but not guaranteed, so please bring your own.

We welcome professional artists interested in demo-ing their process with the public, or even just talking about their work.  You keep anything you create, and we get new people interested in the parks and the outdoors- a win-win!  Contact Lisa Gauker to inquire about sharing your process during this event: lgauker@countyofberks.com.
