The Application Period for the Fire Department is Currently Closed

Applicant must be at least 18 years old, hold a valid driver's license and pass a background check

Applicants for Paramedic must be a Pennsylvania EMT-P, PHRN, National Registry Paramedic, or currently enrolled in an accredited paramedic program.  Applicants must be certified and eligible for Eastern PA EMS Council Medical Command at time of appointment.

City Hall is closed to the public. Applications only by mail.

Applications are no longer being accepted for the position of Firefighter/EMT and Firefighter/Paramedic.

Completed applications must be mailed to the City of Reading, Human Resources Office Suite 3-03, 815 Washington St, Reading, PA 19601. Applicants will receive written notification of the date and time for the written examination. A non – refundable check or money order made payable to the City of Reading in the amount of $50.00 will be due by May 31, 2020.
