NOTICE

 

This addendum is issued for the purpose of clarifying the intent of the contract documents, for making necessary corrections, deletions, and additions to the documents. Each bidder is hereby instructed and authorized to incorporate into his proposal the instructions contained in this addendum.

REVISED: The wide grey margins on the pages were removed. Changes to SPECIFICATIONS are as follows:

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS

Section 01 40 00 QUALITY REQUIREMENTS

Part 1.04 INSPECTION AND TESTING LABORATORY SERVICES,

REVISED Item A. “Contractor shall provide for any required inspection or testing by

others, at no additional expense to the City. Quality Assurance testing for the materials on this project, including the concrete, is not required by the City. The Contractor should perform Quality Control testing as needed to support their material certifications.

 

Section 01 11 00 SUMMARY OF WORK

Part 3.01 SPECIAL PROVISIONS TO PENNDOT PUB 408

REVISED: Item 0901-0001 MAINTENANCE AND PROTECTION OF TRAFFIC DURING

CONSTRUCTION, the first paragraph to read “Hours of operation for this project are restricted to 7:00 A.M. through 5:30 P.M. Monday through Friday. Evening and nighttime work, and weekend and holiday work cannot be scheduled without the written authorization of the City of Reading Director of Public Works”.

 

ADDED: to paragraph 9 “Contractor shall be responsible for restricting any parking spaces within the work areas as needed for the execution of the work. All parking

restrictions shall be scheduled by the contractor and shall be coordinated through the Reading Parking Authority. All fees shall be paid for by the Contractor.”

 

Questions and Answers

 

Q1. Can the City provide an estimated cost range for this project?

A1. The estimated cost range is $400,000 to $600,000.

 

Q2. Should the Bid Item quantity for Cement Sidewalk be revise to reflect Square Yards?

A2. Yes, refer to the revised Bid Item form.

 

Q3. Is the Contractor required to install temporary crosswalk lines?

A3. No, providing temporary crosswalk lines is not required for this project. This response supersedes anything to the contrary that was discussed at the pre-bid meeting.

 

Q4. Will the 272 contract days allow the construction schedule a sufficient number of good weather days to complete the project next spring?

A4. Yes, the assumption is that the contract award and notice to proceed will be issued this October. With that assumption, the contract period will expire in late June 2017.

 

A subsequent addendum will be posted on the city website with the wage rates on September 13, 2016.
