This addendum must be signed, attached to, and returned with your proposal to the City of Reading by the time and date indicated ABOVE:

 

Technical Specifications

 

The Technical specifications have been reissued as an attachment to this addendum. Below is a summary of the items that were revised.

 

Section 01010 SUMMARY OF WORK

Part 1.4 Project Description

1.4 A.2.i.: Add the following: “i. Ensure that emergency egress from the building is maintained (at door north of the vault). Proper signage and notifications shall be provided for Building Owner, tenants, and invitees regarding means of egress from the building under emergency conditions during the project.”

 

Part 1.5 Contract Description

1.5B.1.c. Revise this clause as follows: “c. Furnish and install all construction facilities and temporary controls as specified in Section 01500. Temporary controls shall include the erection of a canopy structure (if needed) to exclude water from the utility vault or Building during construction, and any other measures needed to secure the work site and provide for the safety of the public, the BUILDING, tenants, and invitees.”

 

1.5B.1.f.5.: Add the flowing sentence: “Sprinkler system shall be certified to be in good operating order at the conclusion of the Work.”

 

1.5.g.: Revise the last sentence to read: ”Do not interrupt any utility services until reasonable notice has been provided to the Building Owner and permission has been obtained from the utility provider.”

 

Part 1.8 Building Occupancy

1.8A Remove the sentence:” The portion of the Building immediately adjacent to the project area will not be occupied during construction. “

 

SECTION 01039 COORDINATION OF MEETINGS

Part 1.2 Coordination

1.2. A: Add the following sentence: “Provide reasonable notice to Building Owner prior to undertaking any work.

 

Questions and Answers

 

Q1. When will the drawings and bid schedule be available?

A1. The drawings and bid Form were be posted on PennBid on 9/14/18.

 

Q2. Who was the sprinkler contractor referenced during the design?

A2. S&L Mechanical from West Reading.

 

Q3. Is there a time limit between placement of flowable fill lifts? Placement of Flowable Fill –

A3. A minimum of 48 hours shall be required between the placement of lifts of flowable fill.

 

Q4. Can a sealer be placed on the concrete sidewalk to prevent spalling?

A4. A waterborne silane-siloxane sealer shall be applied to the finished concrete to provide moisture and salt resistance. Use AQUAPEL or equivalent product approved by the Engineer.

 

Clarifications

 

1. Drawings: The following clarification is provided for the Drawings:

 

Sheet S.1-02- The “Sidewalk Detail” on this sheet depicts a crushed stone base with a thickness of 8 inches. It is clarified that the crushed stone base shall be AASHTO 57 stone (2B).
