4-Half-Days History Camp

7/16-Life in the 1700 and 1800’s 
What was it like to be a child living in the 1700’s and 1800’s.  Learn what life was like on a canal boat, what school lessons would were like and what types of outfits children wore.  Try your hand at writing with a quill pen and playing some games of the past.   

7/17-Food and Art of the past 
Art and Food are important to our cultural history.  Try your hand at making paper to create your own notebook.   Learn about some of the foods that would have been cooked in a Dutch oven over a fire.  Than have a chance to make your own soft pretzels.  

7/18-Life on a Farm
Farm Life could be fun and tiresome!  Discover what it was like to grow up on our farm, find out how grist mills work.  Try your hand at some daily farm chores, such as cow milking and husking corn.  Than help to mix up some cornmeal pancakes for a snack.  

7/19-Colonial Living  
Note: We will be meeting at The Beidler House on this day! 
Experience what it would have been like to live in a colonial house.  Join Carey Shaner to learn what it was like to be a wagoneer 
Learn how Native Americans traded and used the river as a means of traveling and transporting goods.  See how any old-fashioned loom works and get a chance to try your hand a weaving on a small loom.
