Councilor Marcia Goodman-Hinnershitz
District Two
Marcia Goodman-Hinnershitz was elected to serve the residents of the City’s 2nd District. Her term runs from 2016 until 2020. She and her husband Rick have been married for over 25 years and have resided on S.15th Street for over 20 years.
Ms. Goodman-Hinnershitz has been very active in the Reading Community. She earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Penn State in 1975 and her Masters in Social Work from Temple University in 1983. She has used her education to benefit Reading Berks residents by working with the Berks County Children & Youth Services as a supervisor and caseworker for 12 years. Since 1987 she has worked with the Council on Chemical Abuse as a Prevention Program Manager.
Ms. Goodman-Hinnershitz has assumed leadership roles for various local and state organizations including the Reading School Board of Directors, Altrusa International Inc., Berks County Children & Youth Advisory Board and the Coalition for a Tobacco Free Pennsylvania Board of Directors. She also assisted the City’s Community Development Department as a volunteer facilitator at neighborhood meetings all over Reading when the Comprehensive Plan was being developed.
While serving on Council Ms. Goodman-Hinnershitz works to improve the quality of life for all Reading residents by strengthening the City’s laws and improving the City’s partnership with the County and State government. She is an active member of all neighborhood groups in District Two and encourages citizen involvement in every aspect of local governance.
