National Neighbors, was founded in 1969, when leaders from twelve integrated communities across the United States met to form a national organization which would serve to promote multiracial, multiethnic neighborhoods. The mission of this organization was based on the philosophical belief and personal experiences of its founders: community diversity is a lasting, effective antidote to racism. In the ensuing twenty-five years, National Neighbors has provided national leadership through education, information, collaboration, advocacy, and activism to support communities and community organizations.
