CITY OF READING AND SUN RICH FRESH
FOODS CONDUCT GROUNDBREAKING
CEREMONIES
FOR NEW PLANT IN THE BUTTONWOOD GATEWAY
May 8, 2007: Mayor Tom McMahon of Reading, City Council
and the members of the City Administration, Our City Reading,
Incorporated, the Berks Economic Partnership and community
and business leaders all gathered at the new site of Sun
Rich Fresh Foods, Incorporated to officially break ground
and welcome Sun Rich President and CEO Brian Tieszen and
colleague and CFO Neville Israel to the community today.
The 43,000 square foot plant will eventually employ 240
new positions here in the City of Reading. Sun Rich Fresh
Foods Inc. is a leading processor of high quality value-added
fresh-cut fruit products, with state-of-the-art processing
facilities strategically located in Vancouver, Los Angeles,
and Toronto. Sun Rich prides itself on an excellent reputation
for food safety, freshness and quality in the fresh-cut
industry. Sun Rich President Brian Tieszen stated that
“Sun Rich is excited to be part of the Reading and
larger Berks county communities - Our values of excellence,
service to all people, safety and entrepreneurial spirit
align well with Reading’s revitalization plans and
we look forward to hiring local people and supporting
the local community.”
Mayor McMahon remarked “that it took many cooperative
efforts to get to where we are standing today. Through
the hard working efforts of the City team, the central
cooperation of the Governor’s team and our state
wide support with the core cooperation of the economic
development community and the larger neighborhood-we are
all here today to see the vision of the future for Reading.
These jobs will be crucial for this neighborhood’s
