Vehicles Gathering Sign and Signal Inventory on the Streets of Reading

For immediate release November 7, 2007: The City of Reading has contracted with GeoDecisions to inventory city-maintained traffic signs and signals. For this project, GeoDecisions is partnering with Lambda Tech International. Lambda Tech International will be traveling the streets of Reading in mobile mapping vans to collect information about the city’s signs and signals. The vans are equipped with Navstar global positioning systems (GPS), internal navigation systems, and high-speed digital stereo cameras. The police department has been notified of this data collection effort and is aware that these vans will be driving the city streets. The data will be collected at normal driving speeds to reduce the impact on traffic during the collection effort. The data collection effort will begin on or about Nov. 7, 2007, and is scheduled to be completed by Dec. 30, 2007.
