City Residents Arrested For Dumping On Mount Penn
October 16, 2007: Mayor Tom McMahon, Mayor of the City of Reading, Pennsylvania and Chief William Heim, Chief of Police of the City of Reading, Pennsylvania confirmed today that two city residents were arrested on Sunday, October 14, 2007 at 3:48 p.m. on Skyline Drive for illegal dumping.
Shortly after 3:30 p.m. a city resident called city police to report two males dumping at the second lookout on Skyline Drive. When police arrived on the scene, they arrested two men and cited them for scattering rubbish (dumping). The two suspects, ages 45 and 53, gave their addresses as Pear Street and Schuylkill Avenue. Both had outstanding warrants, one for scofflaw offenses and the other for DUI. The vehicle used to transport the materials being dumped was impounded.
“These arrests strengthen the “Stop Dumping on Berks” program and send a clear message that our citizens are committed to playing their part in a cleaner city,” stated McMahon.
