City of Reading Graffiti Abatement

In July 2011 the City of Reading implemented its own Graffiti Abatement Program as part of a larger quality of life initiative to tackle the problem of graffiti vandalism throughout the city by utilizing a well planned, comprehensive approach. Operating between the months of March through November the program removed graffiti from over 850 properties including residences, businesses, parks and playgrounds in our first 5 months of operation in 2011 and has made a noticeable impact in the appearance of our city.

Set to resume operations in mid March 2012 the plan calls for area sweeps city wide where graffiti visible from the street will be the first priority before moving into alleyways and less conspicuous areas. Individual citizen complaints for graffiti vandalism on their own property can be reported to the call center at 1-877-PAREADING  (1-877- 727-3234).

In addition to providing removal of graffiti vandalism the program maintains accurate real time data on all graffiti vandalism including photos of all damaged properties, the date it was reported and removed, the cost of the clean up and other pertinent information to aid law enforcement as needed. We also provide educational programs to the Reading School District and community groups upon request.

For individuals or community groups requesting information about the program please contact:
