The primary function of the office is to oversee the curbside collections of trash and recycling for residential properties for the City of Reading. Property owners must provide evidence to the Solid Waste/Recycling Office of a current agreement with a licensed Trash Hauler. The property owner has the sole responsibility to contract with a licensed Trash Hauler, for the collection and disposal of all trash from their property. We currently serve about half of all properties in the City of Reading. Recycling collection is required for all residential properties and the program is exclusively collected by the City contracted Hauler.
