City Hall and RAWA Officials to Present the New Integrated Billing System to the Public.
READING, PA – April 16, 2013 – A press conference on the billing system that will integrate City trash and recycling bills with other bills that are processed by the Reading Area Water Authority will be held on Wednesday, April 17th at 9:30am in the Penn Room at City Hall. A sample utility bill will be displayed for inspection and City and RAWA officials will be on hand to answer questions about the new services and the integrated billing that resulted from the Administration'seffort to streamline processes and identify efficiencies. This initiative, which will reduce the cost of processing and postage, has resulted in City residents receiving their trash and recycling bills as part of their monthly water and sewer bills beginning in May. In addition, customers will now benefit from the payment conveniences offered to RAWA customers. Among these conveniences will be the availability for e-statements, online payment processing and payments at 18 Moneygram service locations in the area. In addition, RAWA offers easier account management for multiple properties.
Mr. Larry Murin, Special Assistant for Public Service and Workforce Development described the initiative as "a good example of intergovernmental cooperation among the City and its authority partners." He stated that "this effort shows the ability to match the needs and capabilities of each organization in ways that ultimately benefit the constituents and builds our combined capacity to deliver value through public services." Mayor Spencer described the initiative as “important to continue our cost-saving efforts and creating easier payment options to constituents.”
