The City of Reading and the Downtown Improvement District Authority are steadily moving toward a common goal of implementing a Keystone Main Street program.

So far, the five (5) committees of the Main Street model have been established, staffed, and are functioning. The committees are: Organization; Design; Economic Restructuring; Promotion; and Safe, Clean & Green.

An application for Main Street designation is being prepared with the expectation of submission to the Department of Community and Economic Development by the end of January 2013.

A key element of the application is an assessment of the current perceptions of Downtown Reading. In order to gather those perceptions, the Pennsylvania Downtown Center is conducting an online survey of 47 questions. The link to the survey is listed below:

We would like you to do three very important things to assist us. First, please take a few moments to take the survey. Second, please forward the link by email or your electronic newsletter to others and ask them also to take the survey. Third, please post the link on your website so that visitors to your site will be able to participate. Your cooperation and assistance is most appreciated.

In addition to helping with the application this information will guide us in developing actions for improvement.

If you have any questions or would like additional information, please contact us.
