Goals 2007 for the Office
of Codes Services
• Continuation of facilitation of
developmental review process through continued improvements
in one stop permit shop effort & information.
• Integration of zoning administrator office into
code services department. Enhance the zoning inspections
effort to bring consistency & cohesiveness in inspection
& permitting process.
• Continue the neighborhood code sweeps thru proactive
efforts of codes staff in conjunction with neighborhood
organization leaders through OND. Establish the training
program for citizens through citizen codes inspector curriculum
thru OND.
• Raise the coordination between police & codes
office for specific locations in the community that need
higher level of attention to mitigate crime & blight.
Also include police personnel to be part of development
review process to keep check on future public safety issues.
• Raise the awareness of City of Reading citizens
& business owners about codes enforcement process
through BCTV codes program, regular attendance by area
codes officer for neighborhood monthly meetings, provide
information on web about court case hearings & support
for community activities like Night out & All America
Clean up efforts etc.
